DESCRIPTION: \n\nSeminar Overview\nJoin CURE for Who Owns Newark...and New
  Jersey? The Corporate Takeover of New Jersey Homes with Dr. Katharine Nel
 son\, Assistant Director of the Rutgers Center on Law\, Inequality and Met
 ropolitan Equity (CLiME). Dr. Nelson is an author of CLiME’s Who Owns Ne
 wark? report and will speak about this research and related efforts to und
 erstand and react to increasing investor property ownership in New Jersey 
 and beyond.\n&nbsp\;\nAbout Professor Nelson\nKatharine (Katie) Nelson is 
 the new Assistant Director of the Rutgers Center on Law\, Inequality and M
 etropolitan Equity (CLiME). Her primary role is the build out and oversee 
 CLiME’s Housing Studies Initiative.\nKatie is a housing and community de
 velopment expert\, with sophistication in GIS\, program evaluation\, spati
 al analysis\, and quantitative and mixed methods research. Her work emphas
 izes the role of finance in ongoing segregation and inequality\, particula
 rly in access to affordable housing and mortgage credit.\nKatie comes back
  to Rutgers after spending two years as the Research Director at the Housi
 ng Initiative at the University of Pennsylvania\, where she oversaw resear
 ch focused on the dissemination and impact of the Treasury Department’s 
 $46-billion Emergency Rental Assistance Programs during the COVID-19 pande
 mic. She received her doctorate at the Bloustein School of Planning and Pu
 blic Policy in 2022. Her dissertation\, FHA and the Dual Mortgage Delivery
  System in Philadelphia\, was awarded the Association for Public Policy an
 d Management's (APPAM) prestigious PhD Dissertation Award. Prior to her do
 ctoral work\, Katie worked at the Reinvestment Fund\, a community developm
 ent finance institution based in Philadelphia\, where she was part of a sm
 all close-knit team that built PolicyMap\, a national web-based data and m
 apping application now widely used by government\, universities\, nonprofi
 ts\, and policy organizations.\nKatie loves to teach and has developed and
  taught many courses related to housing\, GIS and quantitative methods at 
 the Bloustein School\, Rutgers-Camden\, Drexel University\, and the Univer
 sity of Pennsylvania.\n&nbsp\;\n\n&nbsp\;\n[gravityform id="2" title="true
